Nightmare City

Description

Now They Are Everywhere! There Is No Escape!

When a radioactive spill causes mass contamination, thousands of infected citizens are transformed into bloodthirsty undead fiends. But these are not your standard stumbling gut-munchers; this is an all-out attack by fast-moving, flesh-ripping, ass-kicking maniacs that can only be stopped by a bullet to the brain. Get ready for an all-you-can-eat buffet of gunfire, gore and gratuitous aerobics where zombies run, chaos reigns and heads explode. This is NIGHTMARE CITY!

Hugo Stiglitz (TINTORERA), Mel Ferrer (EATEN ALIVE) and Francisco Rabal (SORCERER) star in this wild splatterfest directed by the notorious Umberto Lenzi (CANNIBAL FEROX, GHOSTHOUSE). Originally released in America as the heavily-edited CITY OF THE WALKING DEAD, NIGHTMARE CITY has been transferred from original vault materials and is now proudly presented completely uncut and uncensored.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exactly the same as Anchor Bay's, April 17, 2008
By
This review is from: Nightmare City (DVD)
This review is for the Blue Underground DVD release of Nightmare City with some extended information to inform potential buyers. As has been said, this DVD is exactly the same as Anchor Bay's 2002 DVD release except it has a different cover to it. Even the text and images on the back of the DVD case are the same. The 2 extras are the same as well. Tales Of The Contaminated City, an interview with the film's director, Umberto Lenzi. Lastly, included is the original theatrical trailer.

So, if you own the Anchor Bay DVD and are expecting new extras on this DVD release, you're out of luck. It's exactly the same disc. But, if you've never owned Nightmare City, I do recommend it. (Plus, Blue Underground's DVD is cheaper new.) It's a nice change of pace with blood suckers instead of flesh eaters, super fast super strong zombie like creatures, able to fly airplanes, drive cars, and use garden tools to murder anyone in sight. Speaking of pace, the film is nicely paced,... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Zombies on a C-130 Hercules!!!, March 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Nightmare City (DVD)
If you've read some of the other reviews you know what this movie is about. I have seen plenty of zombie movies and this one I'll have to admit is entertaining although it has some really corny makeup and lot's of bad acting and I guess you could throw in a slab of ham somewhere in there but I like these old 70's style zombie flicks because they sure are fun or funny depending on your taste. Worth the money for us cheese heads.

4.0 out of 5 stars One Hell Of A Fun Ride!, February 12, 2012

HAHA! Umberto Lenzi's "Nightmare City" (1980) is unlike any zombie film you've ever seen.
It's full of blood, guts, gore, gratuitous nudity, hilarious acting, terrible dubbing, and a trite storyline. All of these aspects are typical of the late 70's/early 80's, cheesy, Italian Zombie flicks.
But Lenzi's zombies are not your typical slow moving, stammering, slumbering, stuttering, stupid zomibes. Lenzi's zombies are rabid, fast paced, knife toting, axe wielding, gun blasting, smart sprinting, ass kicking zombies who engage in an all out, free for all, battle royal against the human race. Zombies that are hungry for the kill, rather than brains.

As always, Blue Underground does a magnificent job of widescreen transfer, with crystal clear pitcure, and terrific sound.
So, if you're fan of the late 70's/early 80's cheesy, Italian, zombie flicks, grab yourself a couple of bags of chips, pop open a cold brew, press play, sit back ,and get ready to enjoy the... Read more
